Our Expertise – Energy
EU’s energy policies are concentrated on ensuring European citizens can access secure, affordable and sustainable energy supplies. Much of the current work of the EU Institutions is build upon the Energy Union.
The energy union strategy (COM/2015/080 final), adopted on 25 February 2015, is focused on boosting energy security, creating a fully integrated internal energy market, improving energy efficiency, decarbonising the economy – not least by using more renewable energy – and supporting research, innovation and competitiveness.
The goals of the European Institutions going forward is to implement policies geared towards:
- securing Europe’s energy supply
- ensuring that energy prices do not make Europe less competitive
- protecting the environment and in particular combating climate change
- improving energy grids
